MAKULULU
Makululu is a shanty-town in Kabwe, Zambia, about 130 km north of Lusaka, the capital. Makululu's population is estimated at 80,000. HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB are irrevocably devastating the population, and their lifeline is rapidly leveling. There is only one 15-bed hospice in Kabwe, a town of 350,000 people, and most of the sick die at home alone.
AFRICA NEEDS OUR VOICES & HELP!
In January 2005, Westside King's Church in Calgary, Alberta, partnered with Vision Ledd and Hands at Work in Africa, and sent a team of 17 volunteers to Zambia to build a school, deliver medicine and supplies to local clinics and hospitals, teach nutrition, hygiene and patient care, visit the sick in their homes, and offer love and support to those suffering and dying.
"Small things done with great love amount to great things with great love."
~ Mother Teresa
My hope is that you will, or continue to, participate in some capacity toward the restoration of this "disappearing continent" before it's too late. Let's join our minds, hearts and voices, and find ways to speak up for the destitute and dying.
